Listen: read by my AI voice

Your Brainstem lives on your computer and keeps everything it learns. Claude, Copilot, a text message: whichever AI you use today just plugs into it. Swap the plug any time; your AI stays the same.

Your BrainstemOn your computer, as files you own. It does the work, learns new skills, answers in a voice-ready way. It’s an extension of your AI, not a second boss.

Why not just use the AI by itself?

Because your Brainstem can use your whole computer, even when you’re away. Your files, your apps, your other machines. A chat AI on its own can’t reach any of that from your phone. The AI you already use stays in charge, with the same rules it always has. The Brainstem is simply its reach into your computer: one set of rules, not two. It’s built to use your whole computer. If that keeps you up at night, you can run it walled off in a container (like Docker); it will do less, but it’s your call.

What it looked like today

From a phone, through Claude“Bring up my computers.”
→ “Three are online: this MacBook, rapp-nas and battlestation.”
Teaching it something new“Learn a Battery skill and tell me my battery.”
→ next message: “100% and plugged in.”
Switching the plug to iMessageText it like a friend; it texts back.

Try it in an hour

  1. Install your Brainstem on your computer.
  2. Open any AI you already use and tell it: “Talk to my Brainstem for me.”
  3. Ask for something your AI should have known all along: “Bring up my computers.”
  4. Teach it one new skill in plain words. It keeps it.
  5. Change the plug (text it instead) and notice nothing is lost.
Details

Every plug uses the same door: POST /chat on the Brainstem (port 7071), sending your words and the conversation so far. The Brainstem keeps no conversation itself, so the plug carries it. Skills are single files in the Brainstem’s agents/ folder and are live on the next message.
